On August 26, Inspired Teaching invited Inspired Teachers from all programs – from 15 year veterans to teachers entering the classroom for the first time – to come together for a special, 20th Anniversary celebration at Nationals Park.

At last week’s professional development days for DC Public Schools teachers, Inspired Teacher Leaders in BLISS: Building Literacy in the Social Studies and SCALE: Science Curriculum Advancement through Literacy Enhancement introduced their colleagues to Cornerstone lessons, created by the Teacher Leaders, which will be taught in every DCPS school this year.

On August 6, 2013 Inspired Teaching Fellows Brittney Henderson and Beth Carmichael joined PNC and Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts for an evening discussing early childhood education and strategies for “Integrating Arts in Pre-K Education.”

On August 5 and 6, school leaders from across Washington, DC joined Center for Inspired Teaching and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education for a citywide STEM Leadership Academy for Principals.

On July 30, the 2014 Inspired Teaching Fellows and their students welcomed parents, families, and members of the community to a “Celebration of Learning.” Students shared and explained projects they had completed over the course of the 2015 summer school session at Capital City Public Charter School.

On July 7, 2014 SCALE Teacher Leader Eileen Pascucci was awarded Teacher of the Year by the Nation’s Capital Chapter of the Air Force Association.

On June 10, Inspired Teaching and DC Public Schools came together with a community of teachers and students to celebrate the successes of the BLISS & SCALE Teacher Leaders in spreading inquiry-based, standards-aligned instruction citywide.

On June 2, the 2013 Inspired Teaching Fellows presented findings from their yearlong, teacher inquiry projects. Through these independent research projects, Fellows had the opportunity to ask and answer authentic questions by studying their own teaching practice and their role as changemakers.

On May 6, Inspired Teaching’s Fellows Advisory Board and Inspired Teaching mentor Emily Gasoi co-hosted a screening and discussion of the film Good Morning, Mission Hill: The Power to Teach, The Power to Learn.
