Inspired Teaching announces new Executive Director
With the aim of expanding Inspired Teaching’s reach and impact, the Board of Center for Inspired Teaching is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane Dimyan Ehrenfeld as Executive Director, effective July 1, 2016.

Inspired Teaching’s Director of Teaching and Learning, Jane Ehrenfeld, traveled to Billund, Denmark for the LEGO Idea Conference, facilitating a session at this annual, international gathering of educators, policymakers, and education thought leaders.

Author and activist Jonathan Kozol to be honored at 2016 Chocolate Inspiration
On Thursday, April 21, at the 2016 Chocolate Inspiration gala, Inspired Teaching will honor award winning author, educator, and activist Jonathan Kozol as the inaugural recipient of the Inspired Teaching Changemaker Award.

Real World History students win first and second place at the DC History Day competition
This March, at DC’s National History Day competition, two Real World History students won first place in the group exhibit category for their display about the Great Migration. Two other Real World History students won second place in the group performance category for their piece about the 1968-69 Modern Strivers.

Inspired Teaching presents at 2016 Teaching & Learning Conference
This March, Inspired Teaching’s Cosby Hunt, Caitlin Wolf, and David Yarmchuk led a workshop at the 2016 Teaching & Learning Conference in Washington, DC. The national conference, hosted by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, brought together educators from around the country.

Inspired Teaching presents at Ashoka U Exchange
This February at the Ashoka U Exchange, Mara Duquette, Inspired Teaching’s Manager of Teacher Certification, and Athena Kopsidas, 1st grade Master Teacher at the Inspired Teaching Demonstration School, joined an innovative and diverse group of educators on the opening Changemaker Panel to discuss how they are preparing teachers to succeed in today’s rapidly changing education system, where empathy and changemaking are increasingly necessary skills for youth to achieve their fullest potential.

Inspired Teacher Leaders facilitate professional development for peers
Inspired Teaching’s Caitlin Wolf describes her experience at one of the district-wide professional development days hosted by DC Public Schools throughout the school year. This year, Inspired Teaching’s SCALE: Science Curriculum Advancement through Literacy Enhancement Teacher Leaders have been asked to lead several of the sessions, introducing the Cornerstones they’ve developed for use in DCPS schools and facilitating inquiry-based PD experiences.

Inspired Teaching hosts Brown University Women’s Leadership Council education panel and discussion
The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School welcomed distinguished guests for an event hosted by Aleta Margolis on behalf of Brown University’s Women’s Leadership Council. The District of Columbia’s Deputy Mayor for Education, Jennifer Niles, gave a keynote presentation, followed by a response panel with five Brown University alumnae with different roles in the field of education.
