This Teacher Appreciation Week from May 7-11, Inspired Teaching celebrated the dedication and passion that teachers bring to their classrooms every day. Throughout the week Inspired Teachers and educators focused on self care and gained resources to promote wellness.
During the week, Inspired Teaching staff and supporters had a wonderful time visiting classrooms to lead read-alouds. Guests read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, a beautiful story about a young girl whose teacher helps her discover she is an artist. After reading, students created their own dot pictures inspired by the book. Students loved making their own masterpieces and sharing a bit of their day with a special guest. Visitors were energized by the joyful and engaging classrooms that Inspired Teachers have cultivated all year.
Educators also celebrated their hard work at Recharge Teachers, a wellness-themed fair and happy hour Inspired Teaching hosted with YEP-DC at Franklin Hall. Local wellness organizations, including Wayto Live essential oils, physical therapists, Sweat DC, and more, shared resources and strategies to help teachers promote self-care.Educators won wellness-related gifts during the raffle of irresistible giveaways, including tea sets, massages, a SoulCycle class pack, acupuncture, and more!Being a teacher is a critical and challenging position, and Inspired Teachers recognize their unique role in preparing the next generation of critical thinkers and active citizens. It was such a treat to honor Inspired Teachers and all teachers across the district for their unwavering dedication to fostering their students’ growth. Celebrating teachers shouldn’t be saved for Teacher Appreciation Week; through events, programming, and elevating teacher voice, we celebrate teachers all year long! Donate to help us support Inspired Teachers who actively engage their students every day.
