Speak Truth America: May 15

Join us for a special Speak Truth session this May! 

When: Wednesday, May 15, 6:00pm-7:30pm

Come early to explore the exhibit Undesign the Redline which “explains the history of redlining–the explicit devaluation of residential areas based on race–and other, once legal policies that denied Blacks and other people of color access to homeownership in upper Northwest DC and nationwide.”

Where: Cleveland Park Library, 3310 Connecticut Ave., NW

What: A Student-Led Speak Truth Conversation about the exhibit and the impact of redlining and gentrification on the city – led by high school students from E.L. Haynes.

All high school students from any schools (public, private, and charter) are invited to attend and all attendees will receive community service hours for participation.

Attendees who are not students are still welcome to join the session but we ask that they sit outside the discussion circle and observe for the first hour. This creates an open space for student voices. In the last half hour, observers will be invited to engage and share their reflections with the group.
