On May 1, Center for Inspired Teaching‘s Jessica Hiltabidel spoke on CCTV America about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education and the critical importance of building students’ creativity and independent thinking skills.
Topics covered, among others, included how “STEAM” entered education conversations; what we can do to ensure arts and music programs are not the first to go when schools make cuts; and how to engage parents in discussions about the value of arts education.
Previously a mathematics teacher in the Baltimore City Public School System, Jessica now works with the Inspired Teacher Certification Program training new teachers for successful and sustainable careers as educators in Washington, DC. Jessica entered the teaching profession through the Baltimore City Teaching Residency and has taught numerous subjects including special education, elementary education, and middle school math and language arts.
