The “A” in Inspired Teaching’s ABCDE of Learner Needs stands for autonomy, a critical need to be met before being able to truly thrive in the classroom. In this month’s Inspired Teaching Institute, we’ll learn how to meet the need for autonomy in our students and ourselves, and what to look for when it’s not being met. As we deepen our understanding, we will touch on the topic of self advocacy, a crucial skill for students in decision making and communication of their specific needs.
We’ll be joined by Orly Friedman, who earned her teaching certification through Inspired Teaching and founded Red Bridge in San Francisco. Orly will share how cultivating agency in her students is foundational to the Red Bridge approach and how that shifts students’ role in the classroom from recipients of information to active learners.
