Since its founding, Inspired Teaching has focused on supporting systemic change in education, offering teachers strategies that transform how they teach regardless of what they teach. In 2008, Inspired Teaching formalized this instructional model, defining the 5 Core Elements and 4 I’s that continue to form the basis of its work today. Our understanding and evaluation of best practices and sustainable structures did not end then, however. Additions to the Inspired Teaching Approach include the Wonder-Experiment-Learn and Observe-Plan-Instigate models—frameworks that outline student and teacher roles in the classroom, respectively—and the 5 Rules of Inspired Teaching Improv, which were formalized in 2023 as part of the Teaching with Improvisation Fellowship Institute.
