5 Ways to Teach Listening

Active listening is a skill we can teach and learn. The academic, social, and emotional benefits are transformative.

This highly interactive in-person workshop will help participants practice listening using a variety of engaging activities. These will include:

  • Looping – a way of speaking back the thoughts of others to deepen our understanding of their perspectives.
  • Collaborative Storytelling  – using our bodies to help retell what we hear from our peers.
  • Conceptualizer / Visualizer – observing how our peers organize their thoughts so we can communicate better
  • Scales and signs – incorporating physical cues into classroom discussion to promote active listening and feedback
  • Strengthening questions – using inquiry to learn more about what you’re hearing
