Become A Fellow

Center for Inspired Teaching selects teacher candidates who seek to advance educational reform in their classrooms, schools, and beyond.

Our selection process evaluates beliefs, skills, and accomplishments in the following areas:

Center for Inspired Teaching is committed to building a teacher workforce that reflects the diversity of DC’s student population. Speakers of languages other than English, and individuals with disabilities are welcome and encouraged to apply; alternative application formats are available upon request.

In addition, we follow specific eligibility requirements as designated by the state. All requirements are strictly enforced. Eligible candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, conferred by June 30, 2017
  • US citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Minimum GPA
    • Recent college graduates (less than five years of work experience): 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale OR 3.25 in the major area
    • More than five years’ work experience: 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale
    • In exceptional cases, GPA requirements may be waived in consideration of outstanding personal/professional achievement
  • Candidates must have passed the Praxis Core and Praxis II tests
