Partner Feature – Ford’s Theatre

June 14, 2016

Inspired Teaching is proud to have partnered with Ford’s Theatre. In school year 2015-16, Ford’s Theatre served as an internship site for high school students enrolled in Real World History.

fords-theatre-logoAs a historical site, working theatre, and museum, Ford’s Theatre is an ideal location for an internship, as students have the opportunity to explore sharing history with the public on a variety of levels.

Ford’s Theatre accepted Eastern High School junior, Phillip, as an intern from January to June 2016. Phillip helped Ford’s Theatre conduct visitor research on the experience in the new galleries. Over the course of his internship, Phillip interviewed dozens of school groups and families. As his supervisor commented, “he recorded their responses in a database that will guide us in our work to offer enhanced digital interpretation at Ford’s. Phillip’s engaging personality and expansive knowledge of current digital platforms were crucial to this work. Thank you, Phillip!”

Ford’s Theatre programs “inspire audiences from around the world to become compassionate leaders in their own communities, empowering them to live out Lincoln’s principles in their own lives.” These goals align with Real World History’s mission of engaging students in their own learning, developing critical thinking skills and the tools to become an active citizen in their society.

Real World History looks forward to continuing this partnership with Ford’s Theatre in the coming school years.
